What does stunting tell us?
نویسندگان
چکیده
Stunting is commonly linked with undernutrition. Yet, already after World War I, German pediatricians questioned this link and stated that no association exists between nutrition height. Recent analyses within different populations of Low- middle-income countries high rates stunted children failed to support the assumption have a low BMI skinfold sickness as signs severe caloric deficiency. So, stunting not synonym malnutrition. Parental education level has positive influence on body height in populations, e.g., India Indonesia. Socially disadvantaged tend be shorter lighter than from affluent families.
Humans are social mammals; they regulate growth similar other mammals. Also humans, strongly associated position hierarchy, reflecting personal group-specific social, economic, political, emotional environment. These non-nutritional impact factors summarized by concept SEPE (Social-Economic-Political-Emotional) factors. reflects prestige, dominance-subordination, identity, ego motivation individuals groups.

What does indirect calorimetry really tell us?
Accurate and sensitive assessments of energy expenditure (EE) in mice changes in the balance of gut microbial species could differentially are essential given their importance to research on the molecular mechanisms of energy homeostasis [1]. EE phenotyping in mice is widely available using state-of-the-art equipment in many laboratories, including those in regional centers in the United States...
متن کاملLactate: What Does It Really Tell Us?
For much of the 20 century, lactate was largely considered a dead end waste product of glycolysis due to hypoxia ... and a key factor in acidosis induced tissue damage. Since the 1970s a lactate revolution has occurred. At present we are in the midst of a lactate shuttle era; the lactate paradigm has shifted. There is essentially unanimous support for a cell to cell lactate shuttle. The bulk of...

I would first like to thank the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Nobel Foundation for awarding me this honour, of which I had never even dreamt. I was born in 1940, the son of a furniture craftsman in the city of Nagoya, in Japan. My father wanted to change his job and was taking a correspondence course to become an electrical engineer, while he was a trainee furniture craftsman. Howev...
متن کاملWhat does electrophoretic variation tell us about protein variation?
Before the introduction of DNA sequencing methods into population genetics by Kreitman (1983), the major source of information about genetic variation among organisms in natural populations came from electrophoretic studies of proteins. The amount of information acquired during 25 years of major electrophoretic activity is staggering and, for purely technical reasons, is likely to remain orders...
متن کاملWhat does photon energy tell us about cellphone safety?
It has been argued that cellphones are safe because a single microwave photon does not have enough energy to break a chemical bond. We show that cellphone technology operates in the classical wave limit, not the single photon limit. Based on energy densities relative to thermal energy, we estimate thresholds at which effects could be possible. These seem to correspond somewhat with many experim...
